decluttering and organizing wardrobe

Hello readers! Welcome to our blog, Trendphobia, It’s no secret that most of us don’t care to declutter and organize our wardrobes until the inconvenience of finding clothes on time goes beyond tolerance. It becomes an absolute necessity then to clean the mess that is accumulated behind closed doors.

Clothes toppling down as you open your wardrobe, half of them rolled and tucked away in the corners; clothing items of the same color sitting on top of one another making it impossible to distinguish which is what- is it my T-shirt, shirt, or pajama? It’s a daunting sight! It’s a relief that most wardrobes come with doors. Otherwise, everyone who walks into the room could pay witness to such hideosity and judge our entire personality based on that.

A cluttered Wardrobe is a Reminder…

Despite the unappealing situation, it’s not so bad that our wardrobe is a mess every once in a while. It serves as a sporadic reminder that things don’t stay the same all the time. Regardless of your ceaseless efforts to keep things in place and order, you’re going to have to face a situation where everything feels all over the place. Besides, it’s an opportunity for us to take control of the situation and feel empowered through the action of cleaning, decluttering, and organizing.

Organizing the wardrobe- arranging all the clothing items and accessories in different compartments, and keeping them neatly folded restores or reinforces the sense of control in life.

The condition of our surroundings has a direct impact on our psychology. While cluttered and messy environments are associated with feelings of inspiration for creativity, cluttered and disorganized environments lead to increased stress and frustration. While decluttering your wardrobe, the first step is to take everything out. With everything out, the space inside the wardrobe looks bigger and more spacious. A sense of reduced burden takes over our minds. It’s as if our pestering thoughts have been wiped clean. Our body and mind feel lighter than before. An empty wardrobe symbolizes the freed-up space in our heads, urging us to be creative in new ways in our endeavors.

Sorting your thoughts

Categorizing clothing items as you arrange them in different piles can also help sort your thoughts. Sorting your clothes can help improve the brain’s ability to deal with a problem at hand. It requires a lot of consideration and reasoning to organize a wardrobe. How much space you have to work with, what should be kept, what should be discarded– you have to think it through. This skill can help you with sorting your thoughts as well.

The action of putting things in place and doing it on your own, somehow, feels empowering. Organizing your wardrobe fosters a feeling of command over your own life. The realization that we have the freedom to curate our life as we desire restores a sense of control. On days you feel demotivated and hopeless, decluttering and organizing your wardrobe might help you make feel better about yourself.

Satisfaction of Accomplishment

Once you are done, the sight of a clean and neatly organized wardrobe brings a sense of satisfaction to your mind. Your brain rewards you with adrenaline on the accomplishment of a task and you feel satisfied. Not only do you feel satisfied, but you’re also motivated to do other tasks.
